Wai-wai Gaya-Gaya Festa is an annual event held in Tsu City Hall. This event seems like an event to show different culture from different nations who are living in Tsu. The performances are like, singing, dancing, music shows, etc. We, Indonesian citizen who are living in Tsu, usually get the invitation to participate in that event.
Tsu Wai wai Gaya Gaya Festa 2018, March 4th 2018, is the third event that I joint. Usually we come from Mie University students. We used to show different performance every year. First time I joint this event in 2016, we showed a dance named Tari Saman. It is a dance from Aceh Province, Indonesia. That was a really great experience for us. Why? Because none of us were dancer and none of us came from Aceh Province. So that dance was totally new for us. But we challenged ourselves to the show and the result was really satisfying. The audiences really appreciated us.
In 2017, we showed a music performance using traditional music instrument named Angklung from West Java Province, Indonesia.
And lastly was this year, we showed Tari Enggang, a dance from East Kalimantan Province and Pencak Silat the authentic martial art from Indonesia. Tari Enggang was presented by students from Mie University while Pencak Silat was performed by some workers from Yokkaichi.
Again, we were proud that we could finally make the show and people were happy to watch us. The audience of Waiwai Gaya gaya are commonly elder people and they have a big interest into foreign culture. Their attention makes us happy and proud.
As Indonesian citizen who are living here, both working or studying, we are pursuing something to bring back to our country. Meanwhile we also can give something to show to this country: the beauty of our culture!
I am personally proud of the Indonesian Team. They are mostly younger than me with high passion and will to show. Those performances of course needed a lot of practicing. By our will, we could learn new things and practice time by time. Not only the performance, but the preparation is also a nice experience. By this, I would also say thanks to the Team. They are the best! :
